Power, Sex, Ambition, Greed... It's just another day at the office! From the authors of "Guys and Dolls" comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, "How To Succeed" follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses his little handbook called "How To Succeed Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window-washer to high powered executive. This is a show that everyone will enjoy, without really trying!

Description:
Based on Nick Hornby's novel and the film of the same name, High Fidelity now gets the Broadway treatment!
High Fidelity is a romantic musical comedy that follows the adventures of Rob, a record store owner who knows almost everything about pop music, but almost nothing about how to hang on to a girl. Rob's love life, already a broken record of heartache, falls off the charts completely when he gets dumped by Laura…but that just sets him up for one of the top 5 romantic comebacks ever.
This new musical adaptation of Nick Hornby's best-selling novel marks the first-time collaboration of fast-rising songwriters Tom Kitt and Amanda Green (daughter of actress Phyllis Newman and the late lyricist Adolph Green) and book writer David Lindsay-Abaire (a Tony nominee last season for his play Rabbit Hole). A bright young cast led by Will Chase and Jenn Colella perform the lively rock score, bringing a fresh burst of energy to the Broadway season.

Little Women is the story of The March Family. Although Father March is away with the Union armies, the sisters Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth keep in high spirits with their mother, affectionately named Marmee. However, despite their efforts to be good, the girls show faults. The pretty Meg is vain; boyish Jo loses her temper regularly; while the golden-haired schoolgirl Amy is inclined towards affectation. However, Beth remains always kind and gentle. The novel tells of their progress into young womanhood with the additional strains of romance, and the pressures of marriage and the outside world. This is the story of their growing maturity and wisdom and the search for the contentedness of family life. It was written in 1867 and is a fictionalized biography of Alcott and her sisters.
Time:
8:00pm - 10:00pm
Description:
"In the Boom Boom Room" is a stark modern drama that centers on the life of a go-go dancer. The play deals with the issues represented through the anguished lives of characters in the dancer's life - - her various boyfriends, a mother who didn't want her, a racist father and the other dancers with their promiscuous love lives. Newsweek said of the play: "Compassion for anguished people leavened by a black wit and a powerful sense of the surreal nature of modern life."

This emotionally charged play has over 15 actors portraying over 60 characters based on hundreds of interviews by members of the Tectonic Theater Project documenting the events surrounding the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard. Some people interviewed were directly connected to the case, and others were citizens of Laramie, and the breadth of their reactions to the crime is fascinating. THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a breathtaking theatrical collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable. This production, directed by Kimber Peaker-Lozano, opens Friday, November 7 and runs through November 22. Doors open at 7:30, show at 8 PM. Admission is FREE with donations so so gratefully accepted.

PROJECT: TURKEY DAY! Our Project series is back and this time with a lighter spin! Thanksgiving is the single day when most of us actually go out of our way to sit down and share a meal with the people we love. Project: Turkey Day, opening at The Empty Space (TES) November 14, celebrates this holiday in all its silly, dysfunctional, messed up, yummy and loving glory. The show's four writers (Helen Acosta, Enrique Acosta, Greg Goodsell and Lorenzo Dunning) built their pieces to follow a chronological story arc that begins with a panicked early morning call from a young soon-to-be-father to his mother in "Turkey Trauma Drama" and ends near midnight in "Black Friday" with a group of gamer geeks waiting in line for the newest video game. The vignettes run the gambit from gross-out comedy to over-the-top melodrama to breath-taking tenderness. Above all, the show highlights how much fun real families can be…especially when they do not fulfill the picket fence myth of family values. Be sure join us November 14, 15, 21, 22 at 11 PM (admission only $5) or November 28 & 29 at 8 PM (admission FREE but those donations keep our doors open and there is a special event on the 29 for the LGBTQ!)

The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is an ingenious and wildly comic romp which enjoyed a long and critically hailed run both on and off-Broadway. Poking antic fun at the more ridiculous aspects of "show biz" and the corny thrillers of Hollywood's heyday, the play is a non-stop barrage of laughter as those assembled (or at least those who aren't killed off) untangle the mystery of the "Stage Door Slasher."

Time:
8:00pm - 10:00pm
Description:

Presented by the South High Drama Club
The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is an ingenious and wildly comic romp which enjoyed a long and critically hailed run both on and off-Broadway. Poking antic fun at the more ridiculous aspects of "show biz" and the corny thrillers of Hollywood's heyday, the play is a non-stop barrage of laughter as those assembled (or at least those who aren't killed off) untangle the mystery of the "Stage Door Slasher."
